Daily post synthesis
OLD: Recycling Clay! I do it everyday. We have a garbage can (big size) with the solid clay that have left over after our artists and also the ceramics unsuccessful pots and all that. I put them into G-can, mix with water. It takes a while for the solid clay to dissolve in the water and become evenly soft. So when it is done now i have to put the clay out of that G-can so it can dry out more quickly. I put the clay on one of the wedging clay tables (we have 3). So when it dries fair enough i wage it and put inside of the plastic bag. And this clay is ready to be used again! =)
OLD: Photography class! I have this class every Tuesday. it is black/white photography. We take pictures, we process film and we print pictures. It is kind of fun. Also we mix chemicals, so you need to know proportions of each chemical and we use different techniques to make our print look fabulous, such as: using filters, changing time, etc.
NEW: Last week me and my mentor gave a gallery tour in the Lower East Side. There are about 20 -30 small exhibits at LES. They are pretty cool. Each of them is different, and most of them solo galleries. Pictures coming up!!!
NEW: Well, Educational Alliance Art School is getting ready for the Summer Secion. Every secion we distribute cards with the design on the front page and important information on the back. Straight to the point: I drew the design for the front cover. It was like a little story of Art School, what classes do we have, and where is it located. It is cool! Joseph said they ll make 5.000 of them, also you ll find out my name on the back of this card. He gave me some credits for the drawing=)

Monday: Clay first. Then went downstairs and put some collage work on display. So whoever comes by our building will see those works of Art.
Tuesday: I did clay, then took care of my pictures that i ve printed on Saturday. I straightened them out using hot press machine. Then me and other Intern Neal went to the Pizza place to hang up some of the work that comes from our students at our Art school. And last thing is flyers. I went through China Town passing them out.
Wednesday: Today was one of the Okey days. I came in, wadged some clay ( i do it everyday, first thing to do), then Joseph gave me whole bag of flyers and i went to Burgen street ( not sure) it is on the F line to destribute them. The flyers are about Adult classes that will start in April 22. After my trip i came back and helped my other mentor to prepare stuff for fresco painting. I mixed some lime with sand and carefully placed it on the square looking surface. That was about it.
Thursday: Off!

How has the internship been the same as and/or different than your expectations?
The only thing i didn t expect that it will approach me so abruptly. Before actual Internship i have been worried, where am i gonna go, how is it going to be, all kinds of questions. And now i am there have no difficulties and having fun from time to time. So, my expectations were pretty correct.
What is similar and different about the culture of the school environment versus the workplace environment? What new skills have you learned that apply to the workplace?
The culture of the school environment versus the workplace environment is very different. I like it much more then school. I get to work with passionate people which don t yell and jump around the work place. It is more calm over there. I get to make myself some coffee and enjoy it with cookie or something. I mean i have freedom of action and choice while in school we are like in prison. Moreover at my internship i actually learn how to do something, i try new things with my hands. This way i learn the best. I never liked school, papers, homework and exams. Also i learned how to do things in completely dark room, using only human sences ( no sight tho).
What kind of relationship do you have with your mentor and co-workers? How have you grown as a result of interacting with professional adults?
I have a pretty good relationship with my mentor and co-worker. Sometimes they think i don t get something because i am an aloof person, but they know that i am cool i am no fool. For me it is kind of hard to see a growth, because i feel that i have fited perfectly and they are the ones who is growing.
What challenges at the internship have you faced that you have overcome and how did you overcome them?
Well i dont have certain example but whatever they give me to do and i am confused and not sure how to do it i go back and ask them. I reasure that i am doing it right way or the way they want it.
What challenges have you faced in school as a result of the altered schedule and how are you handling them?
Well, i know that the internship is bringing my class grades down littel by littel. It is not only internship but also SAT Prep classes, Photography class. Now i am doing work from all the places, but i am trying to manage my time so i can sleep a littel too. So like as the week starts i already can tell how is my week is going to be and when do i have to do what. One week lasts as one long night mare. Sometimes i don t know is it night or day, but i am trying to give myself a littel respect and instead of doing hw for A i do it for A- or even be and just trying to do things i enjoy, like giving my guitar a strock.
What goals are you working to accomplish during the remainder of the internship?
Right now i am working on a cartoon which will be plaaced on 5000 card which will be send to the artists and other people who is interested in our classes. So it s kind of a big thing. Perhaps make more connections with people that would me push for somewhere. I don t really want them to push me in art area but somewhere. Also while i am there i want to give apportunity to every one who would love to go to the dark room and develop and print their pictures, use me to do stuff have some benefactor from me and the fact that they gave me that INT.
What new things have you learned about New York City?
I learned that there s bunch of free shows, galleries, and exhibitions out there. Also in each office work regular people either it is a dentist office or immigration office and there s no reason to be scared to go there and interact with people that work there. I always been scared of this offices and stuff, now i am basically playing that role.
